*NEW* Sewage Disposal System Installer Licensing
Online License Application/Renewal
Effective May 6, 2012 the Oakland County Sanitary Code, Article XI, requires anyone who installs onsite sewage disposal systems in Oakland County
to be licensed by the Oakland County Health Division. In order to obtain a license, the following steps are required:
1. Apply for, submit the appropriate fee, and attend an OCHD Onsite Sewage Disposal System Installer Licensing Class and pass the required exam with a score of 70% or greater.
2. Complete a license application and pay the license fee.
New Installers who have never been licensed in Oakland County. You must attend the class and pass the examination to successfully become licensed. You will be prompted to pay a $100 license fee.
Currently licensed installers renewing their license for the next calendar year. You will be prompted to pay a $100 license fee. You do not need to retake the exam.
Installers who have taken the OCHD Onsite Sewage Disposal System Installer Licensing Class and passed the exam but have never been licensed in Oakland County, please call 248-858-1312 to complete registration.
Homeowners wishing to install their own septic system for their residence must successfully pass the class. You do not need to apply for a sewage disposal system installer license.
You will be prompted to pay the $50 class fee.
